One Day to Go.
Well, only one day to go but i must be keen as i'm typing away in my, full riding gear ,trying to get in the groove of having to punch through whatever the weather throws at me. Feeling a little fat at the moment as i've bulked up to 90kg (naked) on the scales if anybody was interested to know that:-) Some people have asked me if i have done any training and the answer is yes. I rode around and did about 30km over the last ten days but i thought i'de better not over do it and started to mentally prepare rather than physically.
Yesterday was a day of finalising the finer details of getting sorted out for the trip. Communication as far as my phone and Laptop was taken care by a lovely girl, Sarah who works for Telstra. As much as i detest Telstra they are the best for coverage so i'm back with them for just one month. Sarah and i clicked as though we new each other after she found out that i was riding through her town where she grew up. A place called Beulah,Vic. Its halfway between Hopetoun and Warracknabeal but that small i haven't even got it on my mapping system.
The rest of the day was a typical scattered mind day trying to do too many small things without a plan and ending up like a dogs breakfast. I think i need to get on that bike and start getting rid of all my bad toxins and releasing some endorphins. Thats right folks, i will be chasing those guys because when they come on , look out. No better feeling than having a party going on in your head, sweating, pumped and smiling , miles from anywhere on the Nullabour with a full moon. Sorry, got a bit carried away there.
Well thats enough till the ride starts tomorrow. I'm going to try and put some stuff on the blog on a regular basis but who knows whats going to happen until i get there. Lets just roll with it, and comment till your hearts are content. Let me leave you with a little positive.

Our problem is that we make the mistake of comparing ourselves with other people.
You are not inferior or superior to any human being….You do not determine your success by comparing yourself to others, rather you determine your success by comparing your accomplishments to your capabilities. You are "number one" when you do your best you can with what you have, every day. Zig Siglar
WOOHOO - Cracking pace already, Green Mount Hill looked like a push over.
ReplyDeleteSee you soon-ish X
Beulah is near Rainbow where Tim grew up. Went to Lorne today to get into the spirit of your journey by remembering the past one. Parked on Mount Joy Parade opposite the Sandridge Motel where we sheltered from galeforce winds. It was beautiful there today - Maeve was the only one game enough for a swim.
ReplyDeleteYeah,im not too happy about Beulah at the moment because i cant get my Telsta stick to work. Just spent one hour with no luck talking to some Techo in another Country with no luck and i havent showered or had Tea yet. Thank God i bought my inferior Virgin Dongal that works. Once i get to a Telstra shop LOOKOUT.lol I will get to the bottom of it though

Slugger here, lol. All i can say is i hope to get better as time goes on because it was a real grind even though the wind was an advantage later with a S.W.Which felt more like a S. wind sometimes No endorphins for a while yet mate, you get them when your fit not fat.
DeleteHeh Grant, off to a flying start old son. We're feeling tired just looking at the tracker. Hope the body recovers well overnight and you keep up the pace tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteJim, if your looking tired now what are you going to be like after Saturday night after watching five hours of pole dancing in the front isle with Pat And Jackie. Don't forget the dark sunglasses, you know the glare can be bad from the lights hehehehe
ReplyDeleteA pretty amazing effort for Day 1. I thought Northam would be an achievement. I believe that you caught up with a couple of wanderers in Northam. Let's hope Sponge Bob Square Pants didn't have any surfie mates in the area as well. Keep up the good work and may the wind be on your back.
ReplyDeleteYeah, unfortunatley i need to do an average of 120 or else i'm going to miss the cup or roll up on my bike on the day which i don't want to do. Might look a bit outer place. Yes ,those wanderers your talking about ,very strange behaviour by two middle aged out of shape single guys in a convertible saab cruising the streets of Northam. What where they doing together alone there? Have they got women?
ReplyDeleteI'm here big guy,
ReplyDeletewatching you head for Meriden, 'God Speed' what ever that means but it was said when they went to the moon..... you will leave them in your dust....
