DAY 6

Work up this morning and felt good and went exploring this great Town of Kalgoolie for breakfast and was immediately approached by the police with this Wanted Dead or Alive poster. Apparently he chopped his Mother up and is on the loose. I looked at it and said to myself, "Ive seen that guy somewhere"Anyway there where happy to talk to me and I'm on the Channel 7 news at 6pm so have a look :-)
========================================================================

Last seen heading toward Kalgoorlie on
2O10 Cannondale bike
Normal
In disguise
=======================================================================

Had breaky and walked the streets and was asked if i had a ciggy  or loose change about a hundred times. Then i came across a guy i had met a long time ago and i sat on his knee and he told me a story.

What a guy
I walked around a bit more and realised how wonderful this place really is. Recently i visited Europe. Places like Paris ,Prague and Budapest and this place leaves those places for dead. Couldn't understand why anybody would want to live anywhere else. Well i better get back to the safety of my room now as i might get mugged and my thongs are starting to melt into the bitumen.

Also tonights the start of the big train ride. A lot of people can't get with the 400 bucks for the ticket. Hey, there wanted 1300 bucks for the sleeper but thats not my style. Plus because they want the bike to be wheeled on i'm thinking of strapping myself to the bike and when they put the brakes on to open the doors and propel myself  to Lindsays because at 1.40am what else is there to do other than ride

Let me finish by apologising and  explaining the no replies to all the comments this trip. The reason is I've had hell with the Internet connections. The Telstra stick i bought back in Perth is i found out today is not compatible with Mac so I've been relying on Virgin Mobile with unbelievable frustration at the slowness. Lets hope it gets better over on the East side.

Take care …and may the Lord be with you.

  1. Downloaded and just finished watching Channel 7 news from Kal, there was this guy with a red 'T' shirt that kept showing up on the screen but then I think Grant was there calling him self 'Bob', well he talked like Grant and looked like Grant?

  4. Thanks Bruce...we came in 5 mins late and missed the guy in the red T Shirt who appeared to be pushing other people out of the way to get in front of the cameras....

  5. "...and may the Lord be with you"? I reckon I've got you figured out Kelly. You've converted to Mormon, bought a white shirt and blue slacks in Kal, and you'll be riding into Melbourne with your Gideons Bible stolen from Questa Casa and you'll be stopping off door-knocking along the way. That's the real plan, eh?

  6. Well I checked the tracker and its got you getting on the train 9 hrs. ago, around midnight.... I checked the map out into the desert but alias no signal, we can just wait Bloggers till he comes out of his 'cone of silence'. Its just like waiting for the moon shot to come around from the other side of the moon (or Nevada desert)!

    We are all still here Big Guy......

  8. Well, who would believe it?!?! Was down in Melbourne with Barbie yesterday and watched the DVD you sent of your 2012 cycle around the paddock. Made me remember some old photos I've come across of Uncle Jim and that I should send copies of them across to you. Being too late to ring Jeanette, I thought I'd look up your old blog and see if there were any contact details.....lo and behold, what should I find but Grant off on another epic journey!!! Having ditched the long straight stretch for the train, there might be time to catch up for that lunch date you mentioned last time!!!

  11. The sleepy gold mining town of Kal is alive & pumping, not only is there a full scale manhunt on but a ' serial pest ' in a red tee has penetrated channel 7s coverage. Lol

  12. I make it the 9th and late afternoon in Victoria.Thursday.
    The question is, "How come the train is not on its track?"
    The tracker shows it just North of the railway line?
    Does Grant get out to set the Tracker???

  13. Now that's what I'm talking about.

    The tracker is fine and at this rate he will be drinking beer in Mildura on Sunday.

    Lins you have to get with the package, ofcourse he gets out to let the satellite see him, otherwise it wouldn't know where he is?

  20. I say mate, I say ol' son, I say...I'm lost for words. Tracker tells me that was 18 hours and 200Km on the road starting at 1am, straight after 24 hours sitting up in the train. Look after the mind and body ol' son. You want to be able to enjoy the rest of the journey - you're into the good part soon. Take an R&R day in Clare and blog how you're feeling - one word will probably say it all.
